Tommy R.

Tommy R., better known as '"Thunder Punch'" or '"Too Quick'", overcame polio to become a professional boxer, who competed around the world and fought before thousands of people on national television. By age 18, Tommy had earned his black belt in Karate and had a 68-1 record as an amateur kickboxer. He then began his career as a top-ranked professional kickboxer and compiled a record of 32-4.
In 1986, he switched to boxing and had eight consecutive knockouts in his first eight professional fights in the junior cruiser weight division. Tommy sparred with Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks and Michael Moore.
Retired from competition, Tommy remains a 10th Degree black belt and a professional personal trainer.
From Tommy: ""I earned the Honor of being ranked #1 Kick Boxer in the World and #7 in Boxing W.B.C. Since my retirement from competition, I have been training professional athletes, such as Bret Myers, the pitcher for the Philadelphia Philly's, Jason King of the Atlanta Braves and Derrick Guiterez of the Seattle Mariners. I have also trained Jacksonville's Finest Police Officers for the Guns & Hoses" Boxing Competition and for over ten years I have taught Karate at Bethel Baptist Church and also at the Bridge of Northeast Florida for many years."
